Termination of tenancy

A landlord may in certain cases terminate or cancel a tenancy agreement.

Cancellation (termination with immediate effect) may be based on non-payment of rent, breach of good conduct and order, damage to the rented property caused by the tenant, or if the tenant has unlawfully sublet or transferred use of the property to others.

Termination (ordinary notice) may also occur if the landlord wishes to use the property personally, if only a single room is rented out, or in cases of minor breaches of good conduct and order, among other situations.

In cases of cancellation or termination, it is essential that the tenant is given a formal notice that meets strict legal requirements regarding both form and content. If these requirements are not met, the tenant may retain the right to remain in the property.

At KROMANN Law Firm, we assist landlords with terminating or cancelling tenancy agreements. We also represent both tenants and landlords in disputes concerning eviction and possession cases before the Housing Court.
